Tips for Clear, Beautiful Skin.

Some people are born with clear, beautiful skin.  While the rest of us unfortunate souls must cleanse, tone and moisturize for it!

Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, combination skin, or sensitive skin; the fact of the matter is that the clear, beautiful skin you desire will not magically happen overnight.  It may take trying several different cleansers, moisturizers and toners to find the combination that works best for you. 

Beyond your skincare routine, however, what else can be done to achieve clear and beautiful skin?  Here we’ll give you some tips on how to make the skin you have always dreamed of a reality.

Tip #1 for Clear & Beautiful Skin – Prepare for Bedtime

One of the most important rules for clear, beautiful skin is to remove all your makeup before going to bed.  Yes, we said ALL of it!  Since your skin does most of its repair work overnight, while you sleep, it’s important for it to be able to breathe.  When you leave your makeup on, you hinder this process and clog your pores which leads to acne and blemishes.  If your excuse is that you don’t have a makeup remover, try putting some coconut olive oil on a cotton ball to remove makeup and nourish your skin.

Tip #2 for Clear & Beautiful Skin – Get Your Beauty Sleep

While we’re on the topic of bedtime, our second tip is to make sure you’re getting an ample amount of beauty sleep.  As we mentioned, your skin does most of its repair work at night while you’re sleeping. Therefore, it’s important that you get at least 6-8 hours of shut-eye to let your skin rejuvenate itself while your body recharges for another day.

Tip #3 for Clear & Beautiful Skin – Feed Your Complexion

You’ve probably heard the saying, “you are what you eat,” right?  Well, this is very true especially when it comes to achieving clear and beautiful skin.  Experts suggest that you minimize intake of fried foods and sweets and maintain a clean, balanced diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, proteins, and vitamins for radiantly beautiful skin. 

Tip #4 for Clear & Beautiful Skin – Sweat Out the Toxins

Exercising regularly also aids in promoting clear and beautiful skin.  Sweating helps detox the body and skin, as well as, helps increase blood circulation - all of which, are beneficial for a healthy complexion. 

While we’re talking about exercise, it’s important to point out the importance of properly caring for your skin before and after your workouts.  Before your workout, make sure to tie hair back from the face and, after your workout, make sure to cleanse properly to prevent any clogged pores and keep skin clean and beautiful.

Tip #5 for Clear & Beautiful Skin – Be Sun Smart

Hyperpigmentation, sun spots, wrinkles - oh my!   These are just some of the skin issues prolonged exposure to the harmful UVA and UVB rays of the sun can cause.  That’s why it’s important that you protect your skin with a good sunblock (we recommend a SPF 30, minimum) whether it’s sunny, overcast, cloudy, or even cold outside.    Following these sun smart suggestions will help you maintain clear and beautiful skin for a lifetime.

Tip #6 for Clear and Beautiful Skin – Stay Hydrated

The skin is made up of seventy percent water.  With that in mind, it’s easy to see why it’s important to stay hydrated. Experts recommend drinking 8 glasses, or more, of water and eating foods with high water content like watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, etc. to help skin stay clear and beautiful.

Tip #7 for Clear and Beautiful Skin – Stress Less

Ever notice how your skin breaks out when you’re stressed?  This is due to the body responding by producing cortisol and other hormones that cause your skin to become oily which leads to breakouts.  To achieve clear and beautiful skin, we recommend taking some time out during your day to manage stress.  Whether it’s yoga, mindful breathing or meditating; take the time to namaste your way to clear and beautiful skin!

    minding what you eat and cleansing are my keys. I workout a lot so washing properly is essential to me.

    Before seeing my dermatologist, I had no idea how important water was for the skin. If I’m dehydrated, I can always tell through my skin. I do tend to break out after eating a bunch of junk as well.
